A graduate of the Crafts Council of Ireland’s Pottery Skills Course in 2006 and now working at The Bridge Pottery in Kilkenny, Caroline has built up a wide range of both functional and decorative work. Creating simple forms, working in the majolica tradition, her focus is mainly on the distinctive surface decoration of her work.
The design of her functional range is inspired by traditional Irish tableware. Her obvious delight in the use of colour gives these simple forms a contemporary re-imagining. Her sculptural bird and hen forms are full of joyful energy and character while her tableware is designed to bring light and colour into our lives.
Caroline creates all of her work at The Bridge Pottery in Burnchurch in Kilkenny and, as a visit to the gallery shop will affirm, the nature that surrounds her in this glorious rural setting is inspirational in her work. Kilkenny is renowned as the heart of craft in Ireland. Caroline is a founding member of the ‘MADE in Kilkenny’ group, a proactive network of professional craftspeople who run a number of events and exhibitions through the year. Passionate about ceramics, Caroline is also an active member of Ceramics Ireland the national association of potters and ceramic artists.
